SPIRITUAL GROWTH Being a Christian is a lifelong commitment of getting to know Jesus and becoming increasingly more like Him. Someone who has been a Christian for 20 years should be a lot more like Jesus than they were when they started. We call this ‘spiritual growth’.
What we believe about spiritual growth:
It is an ongoing process, not an event. You’ve never made it or finished
It requires effort
It happens more by doing than studying. We would rather you practice loving God and loving others, than attend a course about how to love God and others
It happens best in community with other disciples
It requires the Holy Spirit.
What you can do: To take personal responsibility for your spiritual growth:
Join in Sunday worship
Make prayer and daily Bible reading a priority in your life
Join a small group or get a spiritual partner/mentor
Serve within the church family
Give generously to support the ministry of the church
Influence your friends and family towards Jesus and invite them to church events
How we support you (and your family) in the process:
Provide settings for corporate worship and teaching
Offer small groups and trained small group leaders
Offer opportunities for you to serve
Offer access to resources to help you grow, including our library and Right Now media
Offer training, such as tips during corporate worship, membership classes and new believer classes
Offer social events and courses for you to invite your friends to.
